Create your TikTok account

You will first need to download TikTok for your iOS Android device . After installing the app, you will need to create an account for free. You will receive a certain number of invitations to do this in the application. It is possible to create an account using your existing Instagram, Facebook or Twitter or with an email. It is possible to create a new TikTok also using your mobile number.

You will need to verify your new account , then you can change your profile name. The app will check that the name you choose is unique.

Watch TikTok videos

After creating your account, you will see the page to view the videos. If you really like a particular video, you can tap the heart icon, which is similar to giving a like on other platforms. You also have the option to leave comments if you wish. There is also a “share” feature that allows you to send the video to other social media platforms.

On the left of the video, you will see an icon for the profile of the video creator. Tap on this icon and you will see their profile page appear. Once here, you can choose to follow this profile so you can see their future videos.

The TikTok menu bar

TikTok 's menu bar is at the bottom of the screen. You will see 5 icons on the menu bar. The first is shaped like a house and when you tap it, you refresh your “For You” page which uses AI technology to show you recommended videos to watch based on your history with the app.

Then in the menu bar you will find the magnifying glass which allows you to access the search function. It allows you to search for content from a specific TikTok user, by keyword or hashtag. The next icon on the menu bar is a "+" which you can use to upload your own video creations.

The last two icons in the menu bar are "Notifications" and a person preview that takes you to your profile page. On your profile page, you will be able to see all the videos you have uploaded to TikTok .

You can also change your privacy settings on your profile page. There are three dots in the upper right corner of this page where you can change your account to private if you wish. By default, all new accounts are created as public.

It is also possible to specify that only certain TikTok users can view your videos and leave comments on your content. You can also edit your current profile, including the description and even the username. If you are a business and want to use TikTok for marketing purposes, you can upgrade to a Pro account from your profile page.
